Another Harvest Moon Coming to the Gamecube

Natsume announced today that they are currently working on another entry in the Harvest Moon series of games called Harvest Moon: Magical Melody. In the game, players take on the role of farmers and have to try and collect 100 musical notes located throughout the Harvest Moon world. The Harvest Goddess has been turned to stone and by collecting all 100 of the musical notes players will be able to help the Harvest Goddess return to her former non-stone self.

While having never played any of the Harvest Moon games, I do have an obsession with Animal Crossing, and the Harvest Moon games seem to be alot like Animal Crossing. To me, it seems like Magical Melody will have the “build your house and life” style of gameplay but will also include a goal (collecting the 100 musical notes) that will somewhat bring an end to the game. This really appeals to me — as much as I like Animal Crossing, at times I want there to be an end to the game so I can get the satisfaction of completion. But in this respect, Animal Crossing is more like like — it’s the journey, not the destination.

Harvest Moon: Magical Melody is set to be released first in Japan this November and then in the US in March of 2006.
