IGN Gets A Sneak Peek At The Revolution Development Kit
Apparently, being part of the Real Media has it’s perks. Over at IGN they have somehow gotten their hands on one of the early Nintendo Revolution Development Kits and they have been nice enough to give us all a sneak peek. The first thing that becomes very obvious is that these are extremely early versions of the Revolution Development Kit and they are not very functional. From the article:
These kits are very preliminary, intended only to demonstrate to potential developers how the controller may function.
Seems like there is not much to these Dev kits other than a mock up of what the Revolution controller will look like and a suggestion of how it will work. But the one thing that is nice to see is that the Revolution will definitely be the next generation of the Gamecube. The controllers and other attachments that come with this development kit are wired and will actually plug into an existing Gamecube and work!
I would love to get my hands on one of these kits to try the controllers with my Gamecube. I know I’m dreaming here — I’m sure I’ll never be able to get one of these dev kits, and even if I could they wouldn’t work with my regular Gamecube. For the controllers to work, they require a Gamecube development system and I’m definitely not getting one of those.
