Revolution Will Play Gamecube Games

For all the die hard Gamecube fans out there, Nintendo is coming through big time. When the Revolution comes out, not only will you be able to play all those shiny new next generation games but you will also be able to play all of your favorite Gamecube games on the Revolution!

While the details are not yet clear, one thing that is known is there will be ports on the Revolution for your old school Gamecube controllers. Since the new fangled Revolution controller is so different from the Gamecube gamepads, Nintendo had to come up with a way to connect Gamecube controllers to the Revolution. Playing the Gamecube games with the Revolution controller would probably be confusing to say the least and with some games not possible due to the radical differences between the controllers.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to use the Gamecube controllers with the new Revolution games if you don’t like the new controllers. But there will be a solution for this problem — Nintendo is working on some kind of a “skin” that you can insert the Revolution controller into that will make it more like a gamepad. I hope this doesn’t mean that Nintendo is finding out people don’t like the new controllers — while I haven’t actually seen the Revolution controllers “live and in person”, I’m hoping they will help to improve and advance the design of console controllers. Innovation is a good thing.
