The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Will Appear On The Gamecube

Nintendo has formally announced that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be made for the Gamecube despite rumors to the contrary. Ever since the release date for Twilight Princess was changed in August from Christmas 2005 to early 2006, there have been rumors circulating that the game would only be developed for the Revolution, Nintendo’s next generation console.

Those rumors reached a fever pitch last week when Nintendo announced their 2006 First Quarter Game Release List and Twilight Princess was nowhere to be seen. Since then, Nintendo has officialy gone on the record confirming that Twilight Princess will be developed for the Gamecube:

Nintendo has always said that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will appear on the Nintendo GameCube and this is still very much the case.

I hope this isn’t the beginning of Nintendo abandoning the Gamecube for the Revolution. While the Gamecube may not be Nintendo’s most popular console in its history, I think it would be a huge mistake to abandon the console at this point. There are many loyal Gamecube users (myself included) who would think twice about getting another Nintendo console if they did this.
