Joystiq has just posted the winner of their Odama screenshot contest and I’m not sure I agree. The contest involved taking an image from the movie The Last Samurai starring Tom Cruise and basically photoshopping it to death until it is something funny. Many of the entries included jokes about Scientology, the recent “silent birth”, and — for some geeky reason — turning the scene into something from Star Wars.

The winning entry dressed Tom Cruise in a Link costume from The Legend of Zelda and game him a sword. It shows the new Nintendo Revolution controller and has captions of Tom Cruise saying “Stay back or he gets it” referring to the boy in the scene that he appears to be protecting.

I’m not sure I get it — this definitely wasn’t one of my favorite entries. Some of the other entries, such as the Tron themed entry, seemed much more inventive to me. But who am I to judge — head on over to the Joystiq Odama Contest Results Page and judge for yourself.
