Tomb Raider Finally Coming to the Gamecube

According to this post over at 4 Color Rebellion, Tomb Raider is finally coming to the Gamecube in the form of Tomb Raider Legend. In addition to the Gamecube, it will also be available on the Nintendo DS and the GameBoy Advance.

Although there have been a ton of Tomb Raider games and even a couple of Tomb Raider Movies — one not so bad, the other not so good — the original Tomb Raider was definitely a ground breaking game for it’s time. While I haven’t played any of the games since the first Tomb Raider, I do have fond memories of the original — it was one of the first third perspective 3D games I ever played and I’ve always hoped for a version for the Gamecube.

Eidos has said that Tomb Raider Legend should be available sometime later this year (maybe in the fall). I look forward to playing this game and I hope that it is as good as the original. It’s good to see new games still being made for the Gamecube, especially in the face of the impending release of the Nintendo Revolution.
